North America-bound Fit production to switch to Suzuka from Yorii in May
It looks like a lot of Fit production will stay in Japan after production run at Yorii (I believe 40,000 between September 2015 and March 2016). Seventy thousand Fits for U.S./Canada to be made at Suzuka starting in May. (For the 2017 model year as well?)
Are they making any 2016 Fits at Celaya, Mexico? At least the ones with manual transmission?
With a weak yen and strong U.S. dollar, making Fits for the U.S. market in Japan makes more financial sense.

Because each production run of Fits is under 100,000 vehicles a year, I wouldn't be surprised if Honda finds it easier to move the production of that around to the plant that's under utilized. It's tougher to move the production of more vehicles around.

Maybe the Celeya plant has over production with the fit and the hrv? So they might be planning to use the under utilized plant. it is my guess. I do not know the numbers sales of hrv are but it might be part of the reason.
The mexican peso is in the lowest it has ever been thanks for the corrupt president, way to low now compared to the dollar. For instance a minimum wage is 3.5 dollars a day vs 7 dollars the hour in the usa. So they are not moving from mexico any time now.

When I bought my LX I was able to look at it side-by-side with a Mexican EX-L that was being prepped for sale at the same time. Exterior panel alignment was markedly better on the Japanese LX. Inside, the two were similar. The Mexican car had a rather strong smell of preservative oil boiling off something hot that the Japanese car lacked.
I think that we're darned lucky that Honda has decided to supply us with Fits from the Mothership.
