Sure the manual trans are fun but so is a 25 year old blonde, but it's not what most people need!

I loved the 5 speeds in my Corollas but get 33+ mpg city with the CVT in my 16 FIT.

Got used to the lack of shifts quickly and am very pleased with the pickup.

There is no doubt the cvt is here to stay. I like to drive a manual but in heavy traffic they become frustrating really quick.that along with lower mpg and trade in value is why fewer and fewer are being produced.

For me, 100% of the aggravation and frustration of being stuck in heavy traffic comes from being stuck in heavy traffic. It's not any less frustrating in my automatic versus my wife's manual.

As for the CVT being here to stay - I doubt anyone is disputing that. It's the continued existence of the manual that is in question. For now, with the Fit, we have choice. And choice is good. The manual isn't for everyone and neither is the CVT.

Drive an old-school VW beetle or Porsche with a straight cable clutch and you'll understand what it means to have crisp clutch control. Modern hydraulic clutches are mush by comparison.

Same here. Got my FIT EX 2 weeks ago. Coming from a lifetime of driving manual VW's, I really wanted a manual FIT...but no one had it in the DC area. The CVT is not as bad as I thought it might be...kinda liking it the more I drive.
