Unhappy Transmission?

US version looks like convenmtional 5 speed, not CVT? Disappointment! Low gas milage, etc. What happened on the way to the party? Hope I am wrong . . .

True. No CVT is disappointing for the Fuel economy it can give. But its hard to get, even on the Civic. Only the Hybrid Civic has CVT.

The Versa will have CVT but obviously Honda didn't want to take that bait.

I got my new Honda Fit 1.4 I-DSI on Friday here in Venezuela. I preferred manual transmission and I think it is great. The clutch pedal is very soft, the engagement is very smooth and the stick shift throws are very short and precise, much more so than my other car, a Mazda RX-7 (Second Generation). The primary reason I chose the Manual transmission is that I do not trust long term reliability for the CVT yet. Maybe Honda did not want to bet the future of the USA Honda Fit on reliability issues, specially seeing the more powerful engine that will be sold in the States, and that these types of transmissions are better suited for smaller less powefull engines.
