Damn, KentFinn, you're harder core than me. I'd have long ago written off shifting and gone onwards to see how much fun I could have with a CVT.

I'm sorry to see that it's about your simply being able to reliably start the car- and relieved that it's not about getting to have a remote start. But yeah, there's got to be a relatively simple way to defeat the clutch interlock. I hope it's simple and easy.

It's the Irish in me (full last name is Finnell) backed up by the German and the Cherokee.

Thicker soles on the shoes or clip on pedals may be possible solutions. The stubbornness was fostered by my mother. The doctors told her when I was born that I would never walk because of the right leg/foot deformity. My mother had me walking at one and they amputated the foot at the ankle when I was 14.

I'm wondering if it's simply an interlock switch, maybe the wiring could be re-routed to a switch on the dashboard (maybe in one of the unused switch slots). Then it would be a matter of holding one button while pressing the other.

Thanks for the suggestion, but you used the hex word, "rewiring." Homey don't do dat. DIY extends to changing floor mats, installing new license plates, and on rare occasions, a decal or bumper sticker. If I used an icon here, it would be Clumsy Carp from the BC comic strip.

Yeah, but I'm sure one of those ratty aftermarket remote start places can bypass it for you.
