I just find a manual more engaging to drive. I enjoy a fun sporty vehicle and I enjoy the drive itself. For most folks, driving is just a means to an end. It's a place to eat, text, put on make up or change a diaper while getting to wherever they needed to be 5 minutes ago. No thanks.

Unfortunately, "driving" is becoming a lost art. Why else the push to develop and market cars that drive themselves.

Yeah, it bothers me that laser guided auto pilot is pretty much standard these days. Don't get me wrong, I like technology, but that stuff should be optional. I hate being forced to use and pay for "features" that I don't want.

Not in the slightest.

I have a 5 speed, 2nd generation Fit.

Worrying about trade-in is like not having sex with your wife to save her for the next guy. It doesn't make sense.

Or like my mom, who used to put plastic slip covers on the new furniture and the car seats, so it would be pristine for the next owner.

Actually the MTs are cheaper so the trade-in value is kind of a wash -- MTs get less at trade-in but they cost less up front. And even though the CVTs get better mileage, because CVT owners paid more for their cars they won’t enjoy any saving over an MT until the car hits around 90K on the odometer (actually it's 88,750 with gas at $2.25/gal).

Add minimum $1 to national average for any gas in southern California. So we save sooner, but get to spend more getting there.
