My wife and I just finished a cross country trip in our 2015 Fit. We traveled from Spokane, WA to Washington DC and back via the Southeast and then north of Kansas City into Canada where Interstate 29 ends and returning to the USA where Interstate 15 starts in Montana. We drove 8,400 miles averaging 37.9 mpg even though in 2 of the states (Montana, South Dakota) we drove at near 85 mph speeds due to the posted limit being 80 mph.

The last 3 days of our travels we started hearing a strange noise coming from the driver's side front axel area. It was a light metal-like clanking sound. We could only hear it on rough roads traveling at 60 mph or more and never on smooth roads. When we returned to Spokane, I took it to a mechanic and he test drove it in the neighborhood and had it up to look under it and noticed nothing.

Any ideas?
