When the low fuel warning light comes on, how far can you drive? Pretty far, actually. I drove fifteen miles after the light came on yesterday, and the tank took 8.2g for a 10.6g tank. I could easily have gone another hundred miles before running out of gas. The chart doesn't include the Fit, but it's interesting.
Mine comes on pretty consistently with 25 miles left on the range meter. I'm fairly sure that there is a quart or two of fuel remaining below the zero range mark, but I don't like to tickle the dragon that blatantly.

There's even more than that. I got caught in NJ early on a Sunday morning before gas stations were open. It stopped giving me a mileage figure, but I kept driving. I finally pulled into a gas station and waited for it to open. Even then it took only 8.8g, so I had almost two gallons left.

Chickened out, huh? Seriously, when light comes on and range displayed is under 30, I'm feel pretty safe for at least 60, pucker factor starts at 65 miles past light on.
