Smart entry issue

I can lock the door with the fob and walk up and it will unlock. If I walk away it will not lock on it's own. I have to use the key fob. I didn't see any menu to change this in the Fit.

The reason I ask is my wife's 2016 Civic will lock when you walk away. You have a menu that you can program it to unlock driver door or driver passenger doors.

Is this an issue or just not a feature we got?

Let me first say, as a very new owner, I really haven't got the answer to your question.

But I wish the setting you describe COULD be made to happen.

Many, many years ago I had an aftermarket alarm system installed on a basic small pick-up. And it had the feature, that once you turned the vehicle off, opened and closed the drivers door, and walked away, if you had NOT set the alarm and locked the doors it would in about 30 seconds, lock and arm itself.

It was really nice. It took away the paranoia or fear that you may of accidentally left your vehicle unlocked.

No vehicle since has had this feature. And this was about 20 years ago.

I've actually left dinners and got up from movies, to run out to the car to make sure I remembered to lock it.
And obviously this auto arm feature would take away this concern.

I wish Honda included this option.....but I somehow fear it doesn't exist. I don't know why more alarm and locking systems don't offer this IMO very convenient option.

My wife's 2016 has it. That's what I'm curious why mine doesn't or if it's not working.

I got a 2015 EX. It locks by itself after 30 sec.

Hmm...so there is hope?

I guess I have to test whether this is happening.
Mine doesn't seem to be doing that.

Mine does only if you don't get in it. Otherwise it is unlocked unless you lock it post drive.

That's the way my previous vehicles fob/alarm locking system worked. Which isn't what I'm looking for.

I suppose the "key"---is just make sure you lock your vehicle before you walk away.

Fits are not equipped with "walk away locking".
