Miles between oil changes
#2
The Honda Fit is somewhat unique in it's Maintenance Minder system, which evaluates projected "Oil Life" left based on engine usage factors as opposed to pure chronological time or simply mileage.
I haven't owned my new 2016 long enough, but when I owned my 2010? The mileage would vary between Oil Changes. I remember it always being between 7,500-10,000, but it would vary depending on my driving habits....short trips vs. long drives.
I trust the Maintenance Minder, even though I would change the oil regardless of what it says if I was approaching a year without a change.
But with a Fit? You can't really point to specific repeatable mileage marker for Oil Changes. It will vary.
Of course YOU are the owner. So if you want to pick a mileage you feel comfortable with, then change the Oil accordingly? That's up to you.
Sometimes the dealerships will balk at changing the Oil if the maintenance minder isn't recommending it...BUT IMO...your vehicle, your choice.

Mine was at 6584 when it hit 30%. Bought car Late December 2015. I went on ahead and changed the oil anyways as I figure it will probably take me 1 year to hit 15% at this driving rate. Did the oil change myself as the dealership wouldn't touch it at 30%. Good thing I did, that oil was dark smelled of fuel, but remained viscious.
Like other people said, its your car. But, I personally would not go 10K before a change.

2015 EX 6 speed. First oil change (15%) was at 4800 + miles. Second oil change 20% at 9500+ miles, we were about to go on a 200 mile trip then back so I decided to change oil early. 2 oil changes in a year. Both times oil was dark brown. Car is a daily driver mixed city and Highway driving. I trust the maintenance minder.

FWIW my BMW has a similar system, it can range between 6000 and 15000 miles depending on how hard I hotrod it around. I dropped it like 5K once doing a couple laps at a road race course... My 07 seems to be the same way...
