2015 Fit EX Issues
2015 Fit EX Issues
Hello,
First timer here.
I recently just bought a pre-owned 15 Fit EX CVT, and have had some concerning issues with it that I wasn't sure was normal.
First off, when you crank the heat, all the lights (dash, headlights, display screen) dim.
Then, when it snowed, I found out that when the traction control kicks in (while I was driving in snow), the whole car thuds, lurches forward, and feels like it's about to seize up, but it doesn't.
Last night as I was backing into a spot, every time I put it into reverse (still trying to figure out the turning radius compared to my Accord, leads to bad parking jobs, I'm ashamed to say), the lights would dim, and my radio would turn off.
Everything came into a head this morning, when I went to go to work. I threw the trash into my hatch (which I unlocked with the fob in my pocket), then proceeded around the the driver's door, which again I unlocked with the fob. Get in, foot on the brake, press start...nothing! As you can imagine, there was some rage.
My question is this: If it was a dead battery, wouldn't my fob not work? I know it's obviously an electrical issue, but has anyone had similar issues?
Thanks!

hello eadesm, welcome to this forum, from what I read it's 97% a bad battery, 2% is the alternator, 1% something else.
jump the car and take it to advance auto, AutoZone ... for a free battery
the bat battery still has a little power that can run the door locks, bat not good to start the engine.
please tell me what's happened next

My 2-months-new '16 EX, with barely 1200 miles on the ODO, wouldn't start one morning. Yet everything - and I mean everything - else worked: door locks, lights, radio, heater, you-name-it. Honda Roadside Assistance came to do a jump start and diagnosed a bad battery. I drove it to the dealer, who refused to acknowledge the battery was bad until I left it there over two nights and they finally confirmed the battery had "a bad cell due to internal failure" and replaced it under warranty.
Just sounds like you have a weak battery to me.
As a Pre-Owned purchase who know's what may of happened to weaken it.
I can't speak to your issues backing up...other than be careful and practice.
Even though I have driven my Fit in the snow, I don't think I triggered the traction control, or do not remember the symptoms associated you describe.
Your first step of course is to get it running. And battery replacement seems a good start, IMO.

that would be my worst nightmare to leave my new car for two nights at the dealership!
I find that the Fit's VSC/traction control/whatever is pretty "hands off" in the scheme of things....the VSC nanny on my wife's '10 Kia Fort is overbearing....the Fit seems to give quite a bit of latitude, even when fully engaged. Not a fan of computer controlled "nannies," but...can live with the Fit's...the Kia is nasty, in that regard
