3x1.5"=4.5" That's enough height to reach the filter and drain plug? Wow. I can use the slope of my driveway instead of purchasing a set of Rhino ramps.

2016 Honda Fit: 3 x 2x10" pine = 4.5" height, enough to change the oil.

That's enough extra height for me to squeeze under the front of the car to change the oil. Then again, I'm a skinny old man.

Well, brother, we have 2 things in common, owning a Fit and being old, man I gotta get my skinny back. I have a set of generic ramps I bought at some mass merchant (Autozone, Walmart, don't really recall), they get the car plenty high up to do what I might ever need to do to it ) When I was young, I'd just shimmy under my '75 Celica to change the oil...no need for ramps nor jacks in them days...plus cars weren't quite so low, it seems

Cars weren't so low to the ground. Without the ramps, I can't even get my head past the front air dam on the Fit, and I'm pretty sure my head hasn't gotten any bigger, even if my waist has.

By the way, the thread title should have been "plastic screws SUCK".

The plastic fasteners are a 2-part plastic fastener. One part has a male thread and the other a female thread. Where does the part with the female thread go? Does it go in the part of the car that the engine cover attaches to, or does in go in the engine cover (so that the screw with the male thread never needs to become separated from the part with the female thread, and both parts remain together, in the engine cover)? If the latter, the engine cover would fasten to the part of the car that the cover attaches to, when the female part expands in the hole in that part, as the male part is screwed into the female part.

It's the latter. You unthread the screw about 1/4", then push the entire unit through the engine cover and the part it attaches to. Then you tighten the screw to expand the female part, holding everything together.

Part Number 91514-TG1 T01 .75 cents each
DDfit151's measurements are correct but this is a metric part! Nominal sizes: for the square head – each side is 19 mm (= 0.75 in). The diameter of the part that goes into the holes – 10 mm (0.39 in). To get the metric size you of course just multiply the inch size by 25.4.
