Slightly sad to report, I traded my GK in yesterday.
I am now an owner of a Sunshine Orange 2018 Subaru Crosstrek Limited.
I was having way too many problems with my GK that I just couldn't stand it anymore. Latest problem was the constant CEL with code indicating improper air fuel ratio. And there was an noticeable occasional knock and misfire associated.
2 local dealer could not immediately determine cause. Both dealers recommended replacing all 4 injectors and the fuel rail first to see if problem subsided. One dealer also recommended replacing all 4 spark plugs and adjusting timing. The other dealer said cleaning out any carbon buildup might help as well.
The quotes from both dealers were right around $1300 and neither could guaranteed that that would solve the problems. And of course, this issue started 2 weeks outside of the new car warranty so Honda wouldn't cover any of it. Issues started first week of July, I bought in Mid-June 2014
My car had 28,990 miles on it when I traded it in yesterday, so it was absolutely unacceptable to me that these kinds of issues were occurring this early. I decided to cut my losses and get something new.
My local Subaru dealer gave me $12,500 for my car, which was perfectly acceptable to me.
I might be back to Honda eventually but right now, their product line up didn't interest me and based on my experience with my GK, they have some quality issues that need addressing.
Sorry to hear about your woes andre181. The new Subaru should serve you well! I have a 2016 Outback and very pleased with it as it is the 7th Suby in the family. My GK is the 5th Honda in the family, so Subaru and Honda run deep in the bloodline lol. Anywho hope Honda brings you back someday, hopefully in the 4th gen! Cheers brother!
I like my Subaru way more than my Fit. If it wasn't for my 90 mile round trip work commute I'd have either the Crosstrek, Impreza wagon or a Fiesta ST for my daily. Subaru had done the symmetrical all wheel drive for a long time and has it down pretty good. I only have 17K miles on my 2013 WRX, but that's five years of low mile abuse. The only commuter miles my car sees is to and from autocross or track day events or an occasional 4 mile drive to get ice-cream with my wife. I haven't had one issue with my car since purchase. Wish I could say that about the Fit. I did flush all the fluids at 16K miles. Owners manual says 15K for differential and trans fluid change in severe duty applications. Rear diff was pretty dirty along with the power steering, but kind of expected due to the racing. Your Crosstrek should last a long time in normal operation.
$12,500 trade-in value for your Fit with the problems it has is a great price!
I had pretty much the same problem you had (replace fuel rail, injectors) but I had an extended warranty to cover it. Without it, I would have done the same thing you did except I probably would have chosen a Toyota Yaris ia.
Good luck with your new ride.

No need to feel regretful.
You were having problems. At a IMO very early mileage mark.
2 weeks outside of warranty, it's pretty sad Honda wouldn't at least pro-rate some assistance.
Don't be sorry for your decision. I'm on that route later this year as well. Looking at the new 18 Impreza 5 door. The Build quality in Honda has gone down hill dramatically with the new Fit and has left a bad image in my mind of the brand and its customer service relations.
I remember a time where all Honda cars meant value without sacrificing quality and easily went min 150k without any major issues, recalls, manufacture repairs. Soo sad.

Yeah, warranty or no warranty, I kind of feel like if I purchase a vehicle brand new and drive it off the lot, I shouldn't really have any major problem with it for at least 75000 miles.
If I started to have relatively significant problems or failures with less than 30,000 miles, as much as I do like my Honda Fit, I'd be looking to make a change.

Totally hear you on the new car/ no worries for atleast 75K+. I want to like this car. But its just soo hard to.
Congrat's on the new ride! I love Subie's as well!
So sad to hear of all these problems with later model Fits. Our GD has been the best car we've ever owned. Literally only a fuel pump in nearly 200,000 miles of (ab)use.
Wife is very intuitive and refused to even test drive a new Fit. We kept our old one, but didn't buy a new one. I'm thinking she was right.
Can't blame you for wanting to dump that lemon. Hope you enjoy your new car and get the trouble free miles you expect.
I'm on the fence if I'd buy another Fit, or even a Honda. I've had a lot of Q/C issues, warranty claims and recalls with my GK. So far the drivetrain has been reliable (knock on wood). I'm at 46K and hoping to get a lot of miles out of it but we'll see.
I actually traded in a Crosstrek for my Fit. Crosstrek gets terrific ratings for mechanical dependability and the AWD rock 'n rolled in the snow and stormy conditions. I would have kept it but I got tired of paddle shifting all the time to keep the CVT in the power band. I actually believe I got one of the crappy Crosstreks. Most people probably had a better experience than I did. But I wished I had done more homework before getting into the Fit. I thought Honda was supposed to be good. Now I don't have much confidence that my Fit will last very long. You never know if your car will be a good one or a crappy one. If you're a mechanic you know things but those of us who aren't are just hoping we get a good one. During my lifetime of car ownership I must say that Ford has been my best brand. However, I know another person will say they had terrible experiences with Ford.

I've owned 7 Fords. Two were totaled, one turned into a race car. One bought to resell and one longbed pickup was traded in for a short bed version. The two that I bought new and kept for extended time were extremely reliable and low maintenance, not that the others except the race car also weren't very reliable. I had a 1987 Escort GT. Drove it 170K miles before selling it. Brakes, tires and oil changes were it during my ownership. Sold it to a friends brother who drove it to 230K miles. He replaced the clutch and tie rods. He sold it to the youngest brother who drove it to 260K miles. The youngest brother sold it to one of his high school friends. She killed it in less than a month. I had a short bed 1993 F150 with a straight 6 and 5 speed. Drove that 240K miles with just routine maintenance before selling itt. Don't know how long it lasted after that?
