Comparisons between the L15A series motors and L15Z series motors

Good morning all (well in South Africa it is morning still), I trust all is well.

I know that by now, some GK5 models were released with either an L15A motor, or an L15Z1/2 series.

There's not much mods for the L15Z series engines but I would like to know what is interchangeable between the two motors that can be purchased from the L15A modifications to suit the L15Z engines.

In South Africa, the Honda Fit(Jazz) GK5 was released with the L15A variant, and the Honda Ballade/ City GM6 was released with the L15Z1 variant.

I drive a Honda Ballade/ City GM6 and it's becoming increasingly hard to find any modifications whatsoever. I am just looking for simple bolt ons or drop ins, like custom pulleys, adjustable cam gears, camshaft and so forth.

The reason why I am asking on this forum is because most Honda City forums are in Thai, Bahasa or Indian and therefore I am struggling to gather information.

It would really be a great help if you can help me.

Thanks in advance.

Most North American GK5s are still under warranty and I can't imagine much interest in doing things which could void that warranty.

Trooper, I wish I knew the answers to help you.

I would guess, that it being Honda, parts from any of the i-vtec L15's would be interchangeable. I don't know that to be true, just guessing.

For the Fit, that would be US 2009 (L15A7) and up models. Prior to that I'm not sure that the cam gears, pulleys, etc would match since they are standard vtec.

I've been out of the loop for a while, but I don't believe cam swaps or even adjustable cam gears have been popular for the L15. For the most part, people either supercharge/turbocharge or leave them alone. I'm not sure the power you'd gain from this motor would be enough to justify the expense of camshafts, gears, etc.

Even the addition of i-vtec, improved cylinder heads, larger intakes, direct injection, etc has only added roughly 10 horsepower from where the L15 began. Yours being an L15Z, it's probably darn near maxed for this little engine without boost.
