Question Metal clinking sound

I've had my '18 Fit EX for less than 3 months, less that 2,000 miles. I have a metal clinking sound on front driver's side tire area. In forward or reverse, it makes a metal on metal clinking sound, gets a little louder around 10 mph but disappears around 20mph. Sounds like it is dependant on the driver side wheel moving. Brakes, steering, everything seems to be working fine. Something may have gotten loose. I assume the warranty would cover it, but anything I can check myself before spending a day at the dealer?

Time to take it to the dealer. No idea what it is, but I'm sure they will figure it out for you.

Agree with Ash. That's what the warranty is for. My best guess in wheel bearing or wheel speed sensor. Regardless, let the dealer figure it out since well within warranty.

All cars have issues from time to time, even Honda's. If one is old enough to remember the good old days they will remember cars breaking down quite often. Tune ups every 10,000 miles followed by check of points & plug gap after 5,000 miles. Yep them was the good old days.

How about a small rock trapped between the brake shield plate and the rotor? Have had that happen to my '16 and that metal "clinking" can be terribly annoying

Silly comment. Name one manufacturer, just one manufacturer who is not "having issues with quality".

sure, but the issue is honda's been in a downward spiral in quality the last decade and they have been trying to make a come back. these little annoyances do not help especially on a car that has already matured...

That at least is certainly true.

I am so glad you said that... because that is exactly what it is. The problem is that the only way to get to the rock is from behind the rotor...which is not an easy place to get to. I'm just going to be clanging and banging for a while. At least I know it's not a huge issue or having to spend a day at the dealer. Definitely not something a warranty would cover.

The car was only a week in our possession. Our local dealer did diagnose and correct at no charge because it was raining at the time & I didn't want to lay on the wet ground.

Easiest home solution is to remove tire & use large screw driver to gently pry the shield open at the bottom. It is on the inner side of the rotor.

How is it the rock can bounce up in there, but won't orient properly to drop back out? Always something!

Rock behind the brake shield. Good call, I've had this happen too on several cars. I back up at a good clip. then slam the brakes on & it usually will clear things up.
