There was a problem with the VTC actuator for the 2015-16 models, but I've not heard of this on the 2018. I'd take it back to the dealer and have them check it out. You want this on the record in case it continues to be a problem after the warranty expires.

I'm not wrong in saying the VTC actuator noise is pretty specific to start up.
Not overall running engine noise?

right, only during cold start it often (not all the time) makes an audible rattle on my GK for like a sec and it's normal engine noise after that.

The GK is a loud running engine. I think it's the injectors making that rapid clicking noise.

It's like hearing a dry clutch ducati for the first time and wondering, is it supposed to sound like that? It does. HAHAHAHA

Yeah, when I first got my GK, I was surprised just how noisy the engine is. 'World's angriest sewing machine' is about right.

If ya add a Tanabe Medallion Touring axleback, ya don't notice the engine noise quite as much

I don't find my Fit loud, but sound volume is very subjective. Go back to the dealer and test drive another 2018, so you can compare.

With the 6MT you can also control your revs pretty easily, so try to stay under 3k rpm, green zone, coast down hills, to reduce engine rev noise and save on gas.

I agree but find it not too bad around town. It’s much worse at higher speeds but can easily be drowned out with the radio. I love my Fit but it’s not a great sounding engine. The K24 in my Civic Si sounds much better, espcially when in VTEC. I can’t even hear the cam change in the Fit.
