TPMS failed to warn under inflation
DIY: how to prematurely wear radial potentially destroying sidewall permanently.
If it was that bad, and the TPMS didn't illuminate? You might have a bigger problem than what I'e been talking about.
I'd probably want it checked out.
If your tire is so flat it almost comes off the rim?
Your TPMS should be illuminating.

Well, it did, after I mounted the the wheel with the proper tire pressure from Discount Tires, 33 lbs.
I hardly call it a working TPMS system if it doesn't illuminate as the tire becomes dangerously under inflated, but then ONLY illuminates once a good tire is re-installed.
You kind of want the opposite happening.
I want the system warning me a tire is bad....not "waking up" to tell me a new tire has been installed.
And I still think given the parameters of your situation as described? The TPMS should of illuminated.
Working TPMS system or not, OP said they felt it drifting so should have pulled over and investigated. It would have probably saved the cost of a new tire.
TPMS system is a driving aid and shouldn't be relied on 100%. It's like blaming the autopilot when you crash your Tesla. Anything man made can fail.

I even said, get yourself a good tire gauge because it's incumbent upon us as owners to check.
But I also think, especially on a newer vehicle, we should be able to expect that a system will work....as intended.
If it isn't I'd call that broken, and want it fixed. There are a LOT of things on a vehicle you can define as "driving aides" that doesn't mean I don't want or need them fixed if they break or aren't working.
