For some reason Kenchan does not accept private messages, and as much as it pains me, here is my message to Ken for all to read (I guess the part about me waiting to post in the open forum is OBE (Overcome By Events...):
Ken,
Not sure why I feeled compelled to let you know this first...
YOU ARE RIGHT
Last night I went ahead and pulled the Bisimoto off my Fit. Even after all the sound deadening efforts, I just wasn't satisfied with the exhaust sound. It doesn't sound too too bad, but for me, the "coolness" of the Bisi just wasn't enough to overcome the sound levels. And YES, the CVT played a significant role in that realization...
Also, I did not especially like being "that guy", the one who drives the slow car with the loud exhaust. On the bright side, my 40 minute commute this morning was sublime, I may have one of the quietest Fit interiors on the planet, and my audio system sounds like a million bucks.
Your repeated comments about "CVTs and aftermarket exhausts" and "6MT this, 6MT that" definitely got under my skin. However, sometimes in life we all need a little tough love...
I may wait until this evening to post in the open forum, but for me the path forward is clear: the Bisi is going, and the stock exhaust will be staying. And I will not be seeking a different aftermarket exhaust.
Don't let people bother you. Only you can give them permission to make you feel bad. There are a few on the forum that seem to just like to troll others. I throw them on the ignore list as they don't add any value to me.
I'm on board. I refuse to put an exhaust on mine due to CVT and slow factor. I bought the car because it's economical and I like the looks. If I wanted something to put exhaust and other bits on, I would've got a 1.5T Civic. Rock what you got, and build around that. You wanted an economical car to tow behind your bus, and now you've got a great looking economical car to tow behind.
For me, it's the perfect hybrid of my boy racer urges and fiscally responsible adulthood. It looks good rolling down the road, and it's comfortable. When reading your posts on the Bisimoto journey, I could just imagine how annoying it would be... I find just the stock engine noise to be rather whiny when accelerating.

Right on!
I like the way this all turned out.
Enjoy!

Please understand that I am not upset with Ken; initially I was. But he actually helped me "see the light".

Spot on.
To each their own of course, but even when winding that Fit up with the coveted 6MT (yes it's "funnerer"), and that Bisi/HKS/Spoon/Tanabe/whatever is singing a beautiful song, if inclined, the guy in the next lane driving a [fill in the blank] can likely drop that Fit like a bad habit.

No misunderstanding taken. I'm old enough to have learned that I don't do stuff to make others happy. I do stuff to make myself happy. If you didn't like the exhaust and you took it off making yourself happy, then I'm happy for you. If you spent that time sound proofing your vehicle, and in the end it made you happy, then I'm happy for you.
If people judge me because I drive a Fit with an HKS, then so be it. It's their right to judge and my right to ignore them.

Agree completely.
In fact I decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadow. I figured, if I fail, or if I succeed at least I lived as I believed. No matter what they take from, they can't take away my dignity.
I believe an HKS Silent-Hi Power is callin you. It wont make your slow car faster, but hey.... it adds to your street cred and gives ya Cool-Points. And it will at least sound cool.
I wonder, what if your bisi had TWO helmholtz resonators?

i didn’t see this thread earlier but good to hear you are seeing your car or yourself from 3rd person.
i dont just post BS or hate (well besides non edible birds dat crap on my cars.. excludes penguins cause dey don’t crap on my car and owls cause dey eat stupid birds dat do crap on my cars).. i post my past experience and wat i felt watching ricors mess up their nice stock cars with just crap they put on dem.
i mean if u saw my GK it is completely stock. it’s cvt and slow and yet my wife likes it so why not. i think the car looks good and always luved hatches. GL at ur next chapter!!
FWIW, Honda didn't even offer the HPF axle back exhaust for the automatic Fit's back in the GD days because of drone. CVT's just make that 10x more likely than with a regular auto.
That being said, some people don't mind drone. Heck, I even rocked Flomaster's for many years, so I must not have minded drone earlier in life. I remember enjoying the monotone sound.
I'm now older and just won't tolerate even the slightest drone. Most CVT vehicles drone too much for me even with the stock exhaust.
OP, you do you! Same to everyone else here. I wouldn't go back in time and tell my old self to ditch the Flomasters. I liked them at the time.
I'm going to try the Tanabe exhaust on my CVT. If it sounds good, I'll keep it. If it doesn't, I'll rip it off and sell it to one of you guys with a MT.

Lots of good reviews on the Tanabe. Hope it works out well for you!
