3rd Generation GK Specific DIY: Repair & Maintenance Sub-ForumThreads discussing repairs and maintenance you can do yourself on the 3rd generation Honda Fit (GK)
First post here, and please forgive me if it looks familiar to others regarding the charging system...
That said, I've scoured over numerous threads in regards to this, and I'm just not finding any of the previous fixes working for me.
Long story short... 2015 Fit, dome light was left on, battery dead. Probably sat dead for a few weeks as I was out of the country.
Put trickle charger on batter for 48 hours. Tried starting, the engine keeps cranking, but will not fire. No sputtering. Its as if its denying fuel to the engine.
Read a thread about cables to the battery being loose. Everything is tight. Removed the battery to clean up the poles, but they were fine. Tried again, same result.
Read a thread about a bad cell in the battery causing this. Took the battery in to get it checked. They swapped the battery (I think it was a token swap), put new battery in Fit, same result.
Read a thread about a bad fuse being the issue. Checked all the fuses. No change.
Read a thread about how getting a boost allowed the vehicle to at least start. Tried boosting with old battery, and new battery, same result.
Read a thread about this being an alternator issue... but... given I can't even get the Fit started even with a jump start, I can't confirm this.
Read a thread about disconnecting the negative on the battery to clear this message... I've done this numerous times with the old and new battery. No change.
So outside of getting the Fit towed to the dealer... I'm out of ideas here.
I can't seem to find anything online as most people that I've read about having this "Check Charging System" message have seemingly found simple fixes for this.
Attached is a couple pictures of the dash.
I will say I was unable to find anything about the column shifter indicator flashing...
The break pedal is unusually tight too. I went to put my foot on the break and its unable to be pumped...
Not sure if these are any other clues or not.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you kindly in advance,
- Mr. BS
Error lights. Plus the column shifter indicator blinks with all the indications lit at the same time (P,N,R,D,S). Check Charge System Message.
Once a good battery is in - it might take a few cycles of starting and running the car until the Honda Intelligent Battery system recognizes that the battery is indeed now OK. I'm sure the Dealer has a setting they do on the Honda DTC tool to tell the car the battery was changed.

Absolutely correct.
Our '15 GK had the battery changed last year. Got the same lights that are happening to the OP. Connected my scan tool to the OBDII port and cleared the codes. If no tool then (as Jazu mentions) cycle the engine and run the vehicle for things to return to normal. No need for the dealer. They will charge labor (out of warranty) for an issue that is self-rectifying.
