Retro fitting 2018 CarPlay Stereo in 2017 Model

Now the new 2018 FIT comes with new stereo that supports Carplay and AA, I am wondering if it's possible to retro fit the stereo into earlier models. I did a little bit of search and found the part # for both 2017 radio and 2018 radio.
2017 Radio: 39100-T5R-A12 by Mitsubishi
2018 Radio: 39171-T5R-L31 by Fujitsu
Does anyone know if it would work?

I doubt it as it's more about the proper software rather than just the hardware and I wouldn't think the new radio came with the software.

Most likely you have to replace the complete unit as obtaining the software to flash may be difficult. Also would get pictures of the backside make sure all corresponding plugs work with newer head unit.

Retrofit with 2015 Fit EX with 2018 Fit EX Radio

Has anyone done this and know if it works? I'm thinking to buy a radio from an 2018 EX to both add carplay and get rid of that Honda link app that does not recognize my iPhone. I assume that the antenna's and wire harnesses should fit in, but wonder if anyone's has experience with doing the swap? I haven't come across any threads on google with people doing it, but that might be because its normally pretty expensive to buy the OEM radio.

Well with nobody giving a definitve answer to will it work ? Curiosity got the better of me and i bought a used touch screen radio from a scrapped 2018 Jazz. They gave me the vin no and after installing i retreived the serial number and then called local Honda who gave me the security code.
First off all the plugs slotted into their respective slots. Have to point out my Fit is a 2014 car . So far So good ! Pressed the start button And my new radio came to life with a screen looking for the security code. I then entered the 5 digit code and hey presto it came to life. I messed about a bit and tuned in all my favourite stations etc and set up the time zone etc etc. All good so far which proves beyond any doubt its not vin locked as suggested by many.
Ok, first problem was when i tried to pair my mobile and set up a hotspot to try wifi. Have an error message stating pairing is not allowed while the car is in motion ! Car was parked up with handbrake on so somewhere along the line is a signal telling the radio the car is moving when its not. Anyway went for a drive and radio cd etc work the finest. Im waiting on delivery of a honda mic which im missing. Dont know if ill be able to sort the bluetooth problem but will report back asap.
