2018 Fit with Honda Sensing
2018 Fit with Honda Sensing
Has anyone here bought a 2018 FIt with Honda Sensing? I'm looking ot buy a fit for a commuting to work and look to get one with honda Sensing Adaptive Cruise Control to help with the stop and go traffic. If anyone has one can you please give a quick review on how well it work under that condition or even is that even possible.
This is my second one. My first one was on a 2017 CR-V, and now my 2018 Honda EX. You can click on the link below and it will show you some video on the sensors. They all work for me and on my 2017 CRV my insurance went down slightly. I have USAA insurance.

I am not impressed with the Honda sensing at all. The dealer told me it was basically a self driving car. You will die if you treat it as a self-driving car. Also, the adaptive cruse does not work in stop and go traffic. If I had it to do over again, I would save the $4000.
I use it strictly on a light traffic highway. It works well. If I come up to another car it will slow me down to maintain a certain distance between us. I think there's 4 settings and I only use the longest. I have the choice of leaving things be or manually overriding cruise, speeding up and passing the car ahead of me. It usually ends up being a 50-50 call depending on how much of a slowpoke the other car is.
Since adaptive cruise is tied to basic cruise, none of this works if the car is moving below 40 kph (25 mph) where cruise control will drop out. I certainly don't think I would trust it in heavy traffic where a lot of (perhaps sudden) slowing down and speeding up is required with short distances between cars. I haven't actually tried it in that kind of situation because that's not what I have around here.
The Honda Sensing stuff comes standard with the LX here in Canada. I'm not sure that I would have paid for it if it had been an option.

It's a shame because I think most automobiles manufactured today are good products, why dealerships or salesmen think they have to misrepresent them to get a sale is beyond me.
On the other hand? Today the internet offers so many avenues for obtaining information on a vehicle, there really is no excuse for anyone to step on the lot not knowing exactly what they want in a vehicle and exactly what that is.
In the old days? You really had to trust what was being told to you. Today? If you don't already know? You haven't done your homework.
I believe the feature you are looking for is called "Low Speed Follow." It's designed to keep you moving in stop and go traffic. It is only available on AT models(for obvious reasons), and I don't know if it is available on the Fit. I know the new Civic's Honda Sensing system has it, and I'm sure most of the models up from that do, too. But, remember, our beloved Fits are the economy class, so they took a lot of the features out, so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't an option on the Fit.
As was stated above, the adaptive cruise control is a decent feature for cruising at highway speeds(even in moderate traffic), as it will change you speed. But I wouldn't trust it under about 40 mph, honestly.

Low Speed Follow is not on the Fit although it is found on many other current Honda models. I don't think it was originally in the Honda Sensing package and may have been more recently added - but not to the Fit for some reason. It seems to use mostly the same hardware as Adaptive Cruise Control so I think adding it would have been easy on the Fit but .... oh well.
