Hi Guys,

New to the forum but not to the radio world.

Ive done a few searches and found some troubling news in a little upgrade we were planning for our fit.

Currently has the 7" touchscreen without navigation. Looks the same i guess, but lacks some important features.

Found an ebay seller with the complete navi unit from the EX-L but due to the VIN Pairing issue it seems this swap would be very difficult/impossible.

Looks like the seller is powering unit on a bench so the VIN is not required, wonder if the canbus is needed or can be left out for activation, map may be delayed however gps sensors should move the map regardless.

Any insight would be great from other user attempts.

Has anyone at least tried this upgrade ??? Ive seen some warnings about the SD card locked to the VIN of the donor car. However guys have upgraded the LX to EX (non nav) without any issues.

I may bite the bullet and get the ebay unit to test in my fit, connectors at the back look identical between the EX and EX (navi) units, the headunits however are different part numbers.
