I just filled the OE bushings. I didn't even remove them from the axle. I loosened the torsion beam enough to drop it down and filled them with urethane. I let them dry almost two days before I drove the car again.

Installed my progress sway bar. Big difference in handling, however, it's constantly knocking against my gas tank. Anyone else have this problem?

You must mean the spare tire area since the gas tank is under the front seats. In this thread, it appears you have lowering springs? Could that be contributing to the clearance issue?

If it is in fact hitting the gas tank, I don't think it's installed correctly? :p

Rismo. Thanks for the clarification. Yes. The spare tire compartment.

do you have a picture of your install? Mine does not hit anything.

bigbacon 12-15-2015 09:20 AM

mine is not knocking on anything. do you have any other suspension changes over stock? You made sure that you torqued everything down well? maybe there is play at one of the mount points.

Vjaramillo 12-15-2015 06:22 PM

Tech guy told me to losen, push back as far as possible and re torque. Hopefully that will work.

Still getting interference?

Haven't had the chance yet. I will reinstall this weekend and cross my fingers.

Hopefully that'll do the trick. I still have to buy the sway bar, probably after Christmas as my credit cards are on fire with all the holiday shopping.

Finally worked. No knocking even though it looks pretty close to the spare tire compartment. So here's my tip on installing the sway. The first time I had the car on jack stands. This time I used my ramps so springs were compressed vs dangling. I use clamps to bring the bar as close as possible to the cars rear structure then tightened and torqued to spec. Handles much bette than before.

Why did you do this? What are the advantages and potential downsides and where did you get it from?
thanks

Did your wife get a chance to comment? Interested in knowing because my wife drives the Fit now.

Mainly because I am not happy with the excessive understeer. Even with all the mods I've done I'm still getting it. I filled them to stiffen them. This is an attempt to reduce the float inherent in compliance bushing design that increases understeer (rear bushings). It makes the car feel more solid. It makes the car ride harsher too so it's not for the person seeking comfort.

I used 3M 8609 urethane. I would like to do the front bushings soon as well. I'll either swap them for Hardrace of fill them w/ Energy Suspension 60a.

Here's a good video demonstrating how much these things float around:

I would also love to see/hear a video on your Spoon muffler! Please please please!:thumbups:

Stiffening the front will not usually help understeer, usually you stiffen the rear to make the car turn in.. Or increase air pressure in the rear tires slightly. Or reduce front tire air pressure a lb or 2.. As you stiffen the car up, it will respond more to the small changes..
Adding rear sway bar usually increases turn in.
