Rotating Tires
Rotating Tires
I usually rotate tires every 5,000 miles, but I think I might stretch that a bit on my son's car. He has about 6,800 miles on his car, but it will soon be time for snow tires. We had our first light snow last night, so the snows will be going on soon. I always label the tires so I know where to put them on the car in the spring. I don't expect the original tires to last very long, anyway.
When I rotate tires, I simply move them front to rear, and vice versa. That was the original recommendation for radials years ago, and I've stuck with it. Also, some tires I've used had to rotate in a certain direction, so keeping them on the same side of the car was the only option. I jack up the rear of the car and then raise each side of the front individually.
Any thoughts on tire rotation?
