Acceptable wheel offset

I am lurking around for some winter wheels and came across some with a 45mm offset. The stock steel are 50mm so that is a 5mm difference. The tires I will use are 175mm width so I should be nearly stock with regards to clearances.

There is always the any difference is hard on the bearings etc.

Thoughts?

Can you give us the rest of the specs? 45mm offset is generally very safe, but I'd like to see the rest of the numbers.

As in, 15x6, 16x7, etc wheel and the complete tire size. 175/??-??.

Chances are very good you are fine because that's a decent amount of offset and a very, very narrow tire.

Thanks Gafit. I am looking at 175/65/15 for winter tires on a 5.5 wide rim. More sidewall and a tad narrower.

That all looks safe to me. You can play around with the numbers here... https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...5-5&offset2=45
