Need help removing driver’s seat airbag on ’08 Fit
Hey FitFam,
A while back my ’08 Honda Fit got hit, which set off the driver’s seat airbag and the left-side curtain airbag. I’ve already had the SRS module reset, and now I’m trying to remove the driver’s seat airbag.
I’ve got the seat out of the car, unzipped the cover, and released two tabs on one side, but I’m stuck on fully loosening and removing the airbag itself. Pics: https://imgur.com/a/87nWrLc
I’ve looked for videos and guides but haven’t found anything clear. My neighbor is a mechanic but doesn’t want to touch airbags. He said on another car, a replacement airbag went off even with the battery disconnected. So I want to be careful.
Looking for advice on:

Looking for advice on:
- Proper way to remove the driver’s seat airbag safely
- Tips for taking out the left-side curtain airbag
- Affordable places to get replacements
- How to reinstall airbags without risking deployment
You’re right to be cautious—airbags can be dangerous even with the battery disconnected. For the driver’s seat airbag, the safest method is to follow the Honda service manual vegastarscasino exactly, which shows how to release all retaining clips and disconnect the squib connector. Use insulated tools and handle the module with the trim side facing away from you. Curtain airbags are longer and attached along the roof rail, so remove trim panels carefully and avoid bending the airbag. For replacements, OEM modules through Honda or certified salvage yards are safest. Reinstallation should follow torque specs and connector orientation from the manual to avoid accidental deployment.
