This amount of weight going to effect cars handling?

Been talking to one of my Fit owner buddies and seeing if all the gear I carry around on the weekends will fit in a Fit, which it does, pretty nicely actually. But I'm concerned that the approximate, 275-280lb cargo placed in the rear cargo area with seats folded down will effect things. Will it cause the rear tires to tuck under the fenders because of the load, or will it basically be like having two 140lb people in the back seat? (noting that of course all the weight wont be just where rear passengers seat, but spread from wall to wall of the Fits total cargo capacity.

yeah you should be fine, im not sure what the carry capacity of the fit is but 300 lbs should be no problem.

I'm sure it will be fine; it shouldn't affect things too much - so long as you secure the cargo.

your ride height will drop quite a bit but not to worry. as posted above,
tie down or place the cargo well so it does not shift around.

The car is itself like 2200-2500lbs. So you can estimate how much 300lb affects it

My only concern would be the suspension. When remodeling our house, my fit was our main truck. The only time we didn't use the fit was when we went to buy 800lbs of tile. The concern was it'll make the fit descent such that the wheels will grind the body.
