ive had my car for 1 1/2 years and i'm still paranoid about parking lots. i choose my parking spaces very carefully.

last week i parked the car at a shopping center, and before i got out of the car, another car swung into the space right next to me at a high speed, and came very close to taking out my rear view mirror.

people suck.

Yeah well now I know... Christmas rush and I guess I was just glad to find a parking space not thinking about the carelessness of others!

Welcome to the forum. Any shots of your ride and did you get the dent fixed?

Hi there 555Sexydrive, I love what you have done with your ride, was looking at it yesterday soo jealous, I don't have that kind of money to spend and so my Fit is just a standard black VTI at the moment until I have some extra cash... hopefully very soon.

Dent is still there but the dealer is a family friend and when I take her in for the first service he will get it out for me, I actually noticed something else today, a small spot of something has dripped on my roof and eaten through the paint! I need to touch it up quick, I can't believe it's getting ruined so soon, I really need a garage for it or something..

I wouldn't use touch-up paint until I was sure whatever was on your roof really has eaten through your paint. Seriously, I can't imagine something actually eating through your paint this soon. Chemical stains from bird poop and other such things, stuff off of trees, and rings, etc. maybe... but all the way through the paint? Unless someone dropped some kind of acid or other corrosive material on it, I doubt it's all the way through your paint.

A good detailer can buff almost anything out of your paint if it's not actually all the way through to the metal.

Have a detailer or someone similar at your dealership look at it before you go using touch-up paint. You will see the touch-up really well on your roof. It's at eye level or lower, and you'll notice it every time you get in. I hate touch-up paint for that reason... it's never smooth. Beats rusting if it's absolutely necessary... but otherwise I avoid it like the plague.

Also, if you can swing it somehow, I would have a detailer (make sure it's a reputable detailer) do a complete paint treatment to further protect your paint before you get too many miles on it. Someone who's good with cleaning and a buffer can give the paint added protection by sealing and polishing it. There are some guys here who know what they're doing.

If I'm not mistaken and memory serves me correctly, Committobefit08 is a detailer and can give you good advice. Go to the "Fit Care" forum... a lot of paint care info there.

Good luck.

thanks a lot for the reply, I really don't want to touch up paint it either, I know how much of a pain it is, It has definitely eaten through the gloss layer and now there is a rough matt look to it, Ill get some pictures soon, I can't believe something has done that to a car so new.
