oooo I wanna play
completely unrelated battery post with blue thingy. Just two threads down. Scary huh?
Now let's all go and put compressed air water separators on our pcv systems and call it good! I'm sure 13fit will give pointers.
13fit mentions pre-detonation (knocking) as the reason to do this mod. The nature of PCV valves is that they shut when the engine is under load so I'm not sure about this. I don't know how much some hydrocarbon vapor in the mix will add to carbon build up in the cylinders, it would seem miniscule compared to the amount of hydrocarbons in the gasoline that's being burned. I don't think adding a separator would hurt performance of the PCV system any, so long as it doesn't become blocked.
Here's a diagram of the PCV system. It looks like gasses are recirculated to a point pretty far downstream from the throttle body; I don't think it'll gum up the works.

I down loaded this awhile back when DiamondStarMonsters posted it.. http://www.shophemi.com/images/media..._ccv_bible.pdf
Im not sure anyone said it would cause a problem. I feel like its needed more on a Mustang since Ford has almost always been the king of blow by gasses.
Install it if you want to have that extra insurance against a gummed up PCV system.
Post pics when you get it done too!

I have one. Works great. Check my albums for a vague picture, I havent taken any detailed pics of it yet.
Cost under $30 to make
Simple, effective, and something everyone should have when trying to get as much timing out of the factory ecu as possible. oil spray can cause mild detonation under some conditions.
Anyone who has a bluetooth OBD2 scanner like me and hooks to their phone, can see that honda sees detonation through the knock all too well, and dials back timing severely for several seconds, then very slowly turns it back up.
This is what some people encounter, and may think its a bigger problem. Running 91-93 octane reduces this timeframe of recovery by quite a bit
