Broken motor mount OEM or aftermarket
Broken motor mount OEM or aftermarket
Hello,
While looking behind the driver's side (left) fender liner, I noticed the motor mount is broken and the bold is displaced by at least a good 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. I'd like to replace it and I've heard its not very difficult with some axle stands and a jack to support the motor.
What kind of mount do you recommend? Pay the $$ for OEM or get any old aftermarket replacement? I'm nit looking for a performance mount, simply a suitable replacement. Thanks!

if you are not looking for anything performance than go with oem.
innovative is the only company producing aftermarket mounts.
I would suggest filling the mount with window weld to help stiffen things up and prevent breakage again.

I dunno, I'm looking at prices and it would cost me probably just over 100$ for an OEM mount whereas Rockauto sells an aftermarket equivalent for 47$ shipped! I'm gonna call my local dealer but right now I just don't see the point in spending twice as much to buy the same mount that failed anyway.
It looks pretty much identical from the picture. Could there be fitment issues? I don't have much experience with aftermarket engine parts.

I'm open to the idea of filling the mount since it'll be off the car originally. I could fill it up and then let it cure for days before installing it. Is this worthwhile? Will it cause more engine vibrations inside the cabin or put more strain on the other non filled mounts?
Ah I see what you are talking about. Aftermarket mounts from rockauto would be fine as opposed to going to honda. Sometimes they are the exact same product just without the premium price.
Filling the mount would just help reinforce the mounts to help prevent them from breaking again.
