B1 light on

B1 light on

Hi guys. I need some advice.

I have a 2013 with around 34000mi, I just did an oil change yesterday at some oil change place and I did reset the oil life after. When I start my car
today it showed the wrench light with B 1 showing.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

In my glove box owners manual ('11 Sport AT), "B 1" means rotate your tires.

"B 2" - replace engine air filter, cabin air filter, inspect drive belt
"B 3" - chg transmission fluid
"B 4" - chg spark plugs, inspect valve clearance
"B 5" - replace engine coolant

Thanks. The thing that I forgot to mention is that after resetting the oil life it went down to 15%. Thoughts?

Reset it again. A few miles difference doesn't matter in oil life. Let us know if it stays "set" at 100% or drops to 15% again. Mine never did that (jump back to lower %) over at least 10 oil changes I did.

The B refers to needing a brake servicing. Honda recommends that your caliper pins are cleaned and greased, as well as your pads and rear brake hardware. It's also good to make sure nothing is sticking or causing irregular wear.

Once you hit the reset light, it should start blinking, then press and hold until it resets to 100% *if memory recalls*

I don't think that the FIT has sensors that will detect when you should change oil (varies with driving conditions) or that the cabin air filter is getting clogged by a mouse nest (happens a lot). I think that those Maintenance Minder (MM) code messages are generated by the reading on the odometer. Therefore, when erased, the car can't verify if you rotated the tires or not, as an example.

I'm too old school to follow the MM on its recommended oil change interval. It seems like it would be approx. every 10,000 miles. The hair on my neck starts to stand up around 6,000 miles. I know that today's synthetics (I used Mobil1 0W-10) are great / different than the oil of my youth but it's just me.

A few people on here have had their oil tested and found that it's not in bad shape when they follow the MM for when to change it.


For the record, the letter from the MM and the number represent two different things. Look in the manual.

Did the oil change "place" reset the maintenance minder?
Or did you reset it?

In either case, are you sure it was reset correctly? Did you actually witness it reading 100%?

Check online or your owners manual, but on my 2016 the maintenance minder code "B" just refers to the more lengthy and extensive list of maintenance recommendations. "A" is pretty much, just change the oil, combined with whatever sub-menu recommendations as denoted by the number.

On my 2016 B1 would mean, change the oil, filter and inspect and check a whole laundry list of things, plus the #1 means rotate the tires.

I don't know if the exact recommendations and code meanings stay consistent through generations or model years.
