Off topic, but close enough . I remember you asking if there a place to learn how to rally, there is rallycross run by the same guys (SCCA I believe).
One tip from the mag I saw while at the gym, don't just attack one corner, look ahead and be fuild.

Okay for the autox wanta bies. Check these links and you will get info on the schedule of events, locations, costs, and other information. You are welcome to email me if you need more help.
Since I do my autox with the San Fransisco Region of the SCCA (they call it SOLO racing), I'll list those groups which have events in the norther California area.

nah, there are still spots. this is an email the dude sent me about this.
Fellas,
Here is the latest update for the trackday. I need to have payment ASAP. Please arrange with me payment and I will get it to Jon.

Hey Eric,
Sorry for the lack of response. Too many things going on at once. Here's the lowdown:
1. I need the money ASAP. I can come by your place and pick it up or whenever. I have to pay the track in the next couple days. =/
2. To be honest, there is still PLENTY of space (more than I care to have =/ ). Bring as many people as you can/want. Even if you have people that can make it last minute, just collect the money from them and give me their name. I'll put them on the list. If you, martin, or any of your friends knows of other people that are interested, they are more than welcome to come. The more the merrier.
3. There are some more details about the event here: AutoHeadQuarter Track Day at Button Willow!! - i-Club
4. You have a rollbar on your miata right? =P Rollbars are required. Last thing I want is someone getting hurt.
5. Helmet rentals are $20.
6. $200 a head, includes lunch.
7. We're looking to run Race#13 track configuration: Buttonwillow Raceway Park
8. I am planning on staying at the motel6 nearby the track sunday night so I can wake up bright and early for a day of driving. Last time I looked it was about $40 bucks a night for a double bed.
If you have any questions, just give me a ring. Thanks for all your help man!

I know these track dazs sound like fun but I would suggest that before heading out to the track like this you should attend a school like the SCCA offers at ThunderHill raceway. I don't know what they currently call it but at one time it was called performance street driving. You start off with an instructor who teaches you how to drive FAST and SAFELY around the closed circuit race course. The cost is about the same and you get about the same time driving on the track but with a experienced race driver instructor riding shotgun. The good thing is that there is also an equal amount of class room training in high speed driving.
There is nothing scarier than being on a track full of novice drivers who have no idea what they are doing. You may think you can drive, but you really have no idea what driving is until you hit the track with everyone going fast enough to kill you at any second.
I have an other issue with the track day.. The stock Fit is a slug when it comes to pushing it around a road course at 100 mph. It is a lot more fun to autox than road course the Fit....(cheeper too!)
