first maintenance

I own a 2011 Honda fit. It has 19,000 miles now and I have been meticulous about oil changes, but that's about it. What would folks recommend as a checkup? I live in the city of Santa Clara and I am *not* of fan of check ups at dealerships. I rather find a good, reasonably priced mechanic.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Kaashparinda.

Meh 19k? Not really needed. A lot of that you can learn on your own anyway. Brakes might be tough but checking fluid levels, looking for cracked hoses and/or belts....not too hard once you know what to look for. Your car is still so young though, haven't a check up would be like taking your 8 year old child to the doctor looking for signs of arthritis. Main thing right now is keeping your tire pressures in spec. Maybe a tire rotation...but that should be done during the oil changes.

thanks, postfromca

Thanks. I was hoping someone would say what you did! I completely forgot to mention that the fan has stopped working in the positions 1, 2 and 3. Thank goodness it still works in 4 so I can enjoy the AC needed every now and then. I guess I am still looking for a good repair shop in the South Bay then, to get it fixed.
