Question LF strut tower broken - can it be welded? or does it need to be replaced.

Hi Honda Fit Community,

I bought this car in May 2023, on my recent visit to Canadian Tire

, I got to know the LF strut tower is broken/rotten. I have attached the pictures along with this query.

Please guide me on what can be done in this situation.

It looks very rusty. Depending on the state of the rust in the wheel well area it may not be repairable.

Based on the picture you might want to harvest a strut tower from a not rusty vehicle and weld it in there.

You may also want to consider patching a new wheel well as well depending how much rust is there.

I would also want to assess how rusty the rest of the vehicle is and determine if it is actually safe to drive.

I would sell that one and buy a new vehicle. Not a structure gamble I would ever deal with.

And it's only going to get worse by the day.

Yes, I am looking to sell it. However, before proceeding with the sale, I am keen on addressing and resolving the structural issues to ensure the next owner receives the vehicle in drivable condition.
So, how much would it cost to fix this issue? Any rough estimate?

Also, how much do you think this car can sell for?
It's a 2010 Honda Fit model, with 140000 km mileage.

To repair at the body shop, the strut tower alone would cost you $1,355 CAD. Not to mention other repairs that may be necessary.

Honestly if you are not keeping the car you would probably get the most money from parting it out. It would be very difficult to sell in the current condition, even repaired. Paying someone else to repair it would likely be a financial loss.

If you don't want to part it out or keep it, I would sell it to the junk yard for whatever they will give you. That would yield the most return in my opinion.
