Just out of curiosity, what rpm were you turning at 140 mph. My 09 Fit, which is not geared too different, would be turning nearly 10,000 rpm in fourth and 7700 in fifth at 140 mph..

Its not a secret that the gear ratio is different all over the world.

Your GE must have a short 5th. If I do my math right the 6600 rpm redline limiter on my USDM GD3 would cut somewhere in the neighborhood of 140 mph if the ECU didn't have a speed cut.

Divide by two... 7700 @ 140 would be 3850 @ 70 mph, correct?

I have hit top speed on my car and very easily do so. 125mph is about the point where the fuel just shuts off and my car slows down until I'm slow enough again to drive. I can't see how people get higher than that on a USDM Fit. I'm in an 07 model. I would like the limiter to be taken off, but honestly, there's no point unless you track your car and the straightaway allows that top speed.

Edit: Maybe you can get higher top speed in an AT since I drive an MT.

Just to clear up any confusion, the 140mph Jazz was a turbocharged example. Mine isn't turbocharged yet. However the 140mph was apparently at the rev limiter at 6500/6600rpm. I'll confirm this in a few month's time.

P.S a JDM spec GD3 Fit will rev to 7000rpm.

@mgutt- a brand new SADM spec ECU will cost about 850 Euro's depending on the exchange rate.

My top speed so far was 120. It wasn't at a "brick wall" as some are describing but it didn't have much power left to go faster. It runs out around 112 or so and starts to slooooowly increase. The car feels really floaty around 105 too. Nothing too bad but nothing awesome either. Course i'm completely stock and the car only has 5k miles on it. 2010 5mt.

No I wasn't on a track. It was 3 am on a 3 lane interstate with no one out. Yes I understand the risk. Some people will do what they are going to do.

So far 100 mph on 2010 5AT Sport. Kept transmission in sport mode and paddle shifted to try and keep the engine in the power band for as long as possible. Had to back off for slower traffic ahead. My guess is that there is an extra 10 mph in there.

This was going home on I-75 one afternoon. I picked a stretch with low traffic and no on-ramps. Pretty easy and safe.

I have an 07 and the fastest I got it to was just below 120 mph. It felt very solid at that speed with no vibrations in the steering, just a LOT of noise. I did feel like it had some more in it and if I remember correctly I was at about 52-5300 rpm. I know that it redlines around 6400

If you had 195/55x15 tires at 5300 rpm in fifth you were doing 113. Of course if you want a true top speed did you run both ways and average the two?
BTW 113 is typical.

I doubt he could truly run both ways and then average. Road differences, exact distance, % of error for the speedometer. I don't think anyone is going to go through the trouble to get an exact top speed for our cars. We do know it'll roughly do 115 in stock form.

I had 205 50 15 tires on at the time and I did not run both ways to get an average. I might be going to the track on the 8th so I will record it then.

ive hit a few 110 pulls going nashville to atlanta..yes yes i understand all the negative stuff about it being dangerous..i assure you the was more than plenty open hwy and not a car within prob 1/2 a mile. anyhow, the car was still pulling at that speed well but i starting catching traffic so decided to slow down. anyhow, im not sure if its because im running a chip or anything but i think on a closed course i could hit 130's. just not willing to do more than 115 via hwy. anyhow id love to get a closed course opportunity to see were she stops pushing.

For those of us with regular access to closed courses 110 So far 5 Fits have entered the trials, most more than once. to 115 is all there is. And when allowed to run 2 way speed trials 112 is about it. Thats measured with both stopwatches and radar guns. So far 5 Fits have tried, most more than once.
Don't make any bets on top speed higher than that unlless you have a turbo or supercharger. One way runs don't count.
