The tires I'm using now are quite soft. Anything less than 42psi in front and they roll like crazy. I may try again to go up to 60 in the rear, and see what happens. If I decide to do a full autocross season next year, I will most likely invest in a proper tire setup.

Ok fellow Auto X’ers.. the results are in 4th place out of 7 cars. Not to happy with the results I could have gotten 3rd if I could have put together one solid run. But winning is winning and 4th is where I stand. Live and Learn... But I did beat a RX8 and 06’ Corvette in raw times J

http://www.stlsolo.org/sites/default/files/event10_fin.htm#ST

The ST Class played out as follows 1st place went to a national champion (in other classes) in a 01’ Subaru 2.5 RS (Dude drives the piss out this car.. on another level), 2nd went to a E30 BMW driven very well, and 3rd went to a 08’ Civic Si (Damn K20’s and LSD’s !!) and me in 4th with another Subaru RS, Civic Si, and Mirage filling in the rest.

On the another note the Fit behaved GREAT !!! I started the Advan AD08s @ 34psi f & 36 r… then drop the rear to 35~34psi since the rear was getting to slippier. There was great grip the 1st run… 2nd run got greasy so I cooled down the tires for the other runs with some water in a spray bottle and that seemed to solve the issue. It was great fun… just a bummer the season is over in St.Louis. Anyways for next season hope to get my Pro C’s put in to control roll a bit more and get more front camber. Here is a link to a video of my car on the 3rd run. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/video/video.php?v=424471819827

...what we did to decrease understeer...

Isn't this the reverse of what everyone has been saying??? To decrease understeer (i.e. promote oversteer) you should INCREASE rear tire pressure and DECREASE front tire pressure right??. This is opposite of the table above.

blackndecker,
For what it's worth, on July 24-25th, I co-drove with mrFroge in his HStock Fit at the San Francisco Regionals. After my first run, I complained to Rich that the front end was pushing. He immediately adjusted the tire pressures from 45psi front/45psi rear, to 45psi front/35psi rear, and the Fit rotated perfectly after that.
So with our set up, in order to promote oversteer, we DECREASED the rear tire pressure (the front psi was already working well for us).

This is correct-

Adjustments ............Decrease Understeer.............. Decrease Oversteer
Front Tire Pressure .....Higher..................................... Lower
Rear Tire Pressure ......Lower...................................... Higher

You don't have to change both front and rear pressures at the same time.
It depends on how much heat your tire treads are showing. Checking tire temps using a temperature probe would be helpful.

If you had 45 psi front and rear and were understeering but your temperatures on the front were pretty good for outer and middle treads then you'd want to leave it alone and just change the back no matter how much or little the shoulder rollover was (chalking helps to see rollover). On the other hand if temperatures were higher in the center tread then a slight drop 2 psi might help the fronts a bit.

When I have autocrossed front wheel drive cars I usually find I need higher pressures in the front by about 3 to 5 psi. Your driving style will determine much of what you will need to do to adjust plus your selection of autocross tires- whether street or race tires.
