RDX Key fob

RDX Key fob
A friend of mine who owns a 2006 TL was thinking of (and is now in the process of) swapping his regular key and remote to a single unit (those switchblade key fobs Audi and VW use)
I was wondering if any of you have tried it, my friend (same guy) is using the RL remote or something but apparently this doesnt use the same transmitting frequency as the fit so he's checking for me if the RDX remote uses our frequency. I dont know jack about this so I'm asking you guys for ur help and estimates on how much it would cost. I'm assuming the cutting of the key and the programming of the chip would be the major costs associated with this swap. basically if i can get the entire thing done for under $100 CND i'm definetly doin it. ANything more and it might get shelved till other mods come in.

damn it's laser cut !!!
well if its a bit over 100 then i dont care, im thinking the remote itself is around 35 dollars
the only issues im concerned with right now is can i get the remote to work with the car, if i need to shell out for another transmitter unit then forget it, thats too much work for now, maybe itll come later down the line

There is some talk of this over on the TSX forums.

Granted this relates soley to making it work for a TSX but there is some useful information on the 07 RDX and 07 TL key fobs.

OK, here is what I have learned from reading the posts over at the TSX and RSX forum, and talking with some of the folks over there. The RDX transmitter will not work, it is a different manufacturer. There is a very good chance the 07 TL transmitter will work. I say chance because without having one to try to program to my Fit I can't give a more definite answer than that.
If the transmitter works you have a couple of options for the immobilizer chip. You can take the 07 TL blank to Honda and have them program the car to accept that chip (cost: 1 hr of labor minimum), or you can remove the one from your Fit key and transplant it into the TL fob (read the TSX link above for info on this).
Now you will need to get that 07 blank key cut. Your Honda dealership might have the equipment to do this or not, I really don't know much about these new "high security" keys. Some locksmiths are able to cut these keys, so you will have to look around. Side note on the immobilizer chip: some locksmiths might be able to program it to the car as well, for cheaper then Honda, but find one that is reputable.
Ok, that is all I know at this point. I am looking for an 07 TL blank to buy so I can try this out. I'll keep you all posted.

Here's a pictorial of how it was done on a CR-V, starting second post down:

Note that this was done using the existing programmed key.
