2nd Gen Electrical problem (dash etc)
2nd Gen Electrical problem (dash etc)
Greetings. I have a 2009 Sport with ~90K miles. Not related but just got new tires a couple days ago (local shop used 4 floor jacks to jack the car up from the frame rails and not sure if it is all possible for them to cause damage to the electrical system?)
Yesterday all of a sudden most of the dash functions stopped working (Speedometer, tach, gear indicator etc. along with the A/C compressor not engaging- all were functional prior). Most of the warning lights stay illuminated on the dash.
Disconnected the battery for an hour with no luck. Getting a DTC code "U0155" (PCM does not receive any signals via the F-CAN lines for at least 1 second); possible causes faulty gauge control module (or gauge control module harness open/short or poor connection) or faulty PCM. I have attempted to remove the gauge cluster.
Ran gauge self diagnostic and got am "Err1" (malfunction in the communication line between the gauge cluster and PCM and F-CAN).
I don't have schematic but I believe the F-CAN is connected to the PCM, ABS/VSA, EPS and I did disconnect the ABS/VSA under hood connector with no change to the dash functionality with the idea that possibly a bad module on one of these systems is causing a communication error on the F-CAN line.
I am pretty handy and for the most part have been able to tackle repairs on a multiple array of vehicles over the years, however I know I don't have the diagnostic tools to really troubleshoot electrical issue on modern cars. I prefer not to take it to the shop, if anybody has any tips or suggestions on what I should look at it would greatly be appreciate. Thanks.

Update. You know it is beyond DIY when the experienced local non-dealer Honda experts tell you to take it to the dealer. :-(
Have an appt at the dealer today. Can anyone comment if by chance the gauge cluster or PCM is faulty can I replace those with used units and have the dealer re-program?

What a waste of $175 for a dealer diagnosis and a $3K estimate (over $1500 for replacement of the gauge cluster).,rest a couple of maintenance items. 2009 with 90K miles $3K is 1/2 of the value of the car. Stealerships are insane. I should of just went ahead and replaced the cluster w/o the diagnostic. I can address all the items on the estimate for $300, not sure how people pay these prices.
