Replacing rear wheel stud

So last night I went to replace all my brake fluid. Fluid was black. When I was trying to reinstall my wheel one of my lugs wouldn’t torque down and then I realized the top of the threads on one wheel stud were stripped. Not sure how. But the car is a 2007 with 190,000km on it. Today I’m looking to change out one of the wheel studs but it’s in the rear. Just wondering how I go about doing this.

I’m assuming I have to take off the rear drum, bang out the stud with a hammer, slide the new stud in and use a bolt and lug nut to tighten it down so it sits flush along the back side? Do I have this thought process correct?

Can anyone offer any insight on getting the rear drum off though? I’m assuming that’s going to be seized as hell. Do I just smash it with a hammer and hope it pops off like my front rotors did? Front rotors room over 10 smashes abs a shit ton of rust fell from them.

Any help would be appreciated. I gotta drive the car on a massive road trip up north in less than 5 days now.

I think you got it. I hope that someone else can give better details but what you wrote is the way I see it. Been a long time since I've had to do one. You might have to wind the shoes back to clear any potential lip in the drum but otherwise, just a lot of elbow grease.

P.S. You're already in Canada so how far north are you trying to go?
