Installing studs on rear hubs

The proper way is with a hydraulic press…
But I have heard of guys grinding off the stud at the flange of the hub (put a washer over the stud to protect the flange) and knocking them back with a large punch and a mallet. Then you feed the new stud in from behind and stack a bunch of steel washers or larger nuts over the new stud and torque the wheel nut on backwards (flat side to the washers or nuts) to set it inplace.
