my 2008 Fit sport has 202k miles and the
engine light started flickering. I took it to a mechanic shop and they couldn’t find anything wrong.

Fast forward two weeks……when I pulled into my driveway, I shut off the car. The key wouldn’t release. I started it again and tried to shift the car in reverse (from Park). It wouldn’t move. I shut it off again and the key still wouldn’t release so I called a friend who told me to disconnect the battery. That worked. It released the key. But now, every time I use the car, I have to use a small screwdriver to press a button (next to the gear shift) to get it out of park. And when I shut the car off, I have to disconnect the battery to remove the key from the ignition or else it drains the battery. Does anyone on this forum have an idea what’s wrong? I’d appreciate any advice or insight.
