Unhappy So yea, My 1 month old Fit has a damaged Front Bumper

I was at my cousins house last night cuz he was tutoring me in physics and next thing I know, his mom walks in and says, "Jay, Sorry but I backed up into your car but I didnt see anything scratched." So basically I have this WTF face and thankfully I dont pay my cousin for tutoring lessons lol cuz then I would have asked for it all back. lol. So his mom says "it was a little bump". Given that she has a Ford Sports Trac I'm thinking, "Sure a bump...on my brand ****ing new car" I almost said that out loud. So I go outside, of course in the dark, and take a flash light and lone and behold, a pretty nice size imprint of a rear hitch on my front bumper. and the paint was taken off on some areas around it. If you look at my sig, that was the area of the front bumper that was damaged. What pisses me off is the fact that is a brand new car that still has a temp tag and I have to take it in for repair. My cousins mom will take care of all the expenses.

This is where you guys come in even though you can put your input about the story.

I called up the dealership to ask how much an 2008 OEM Fit Bumper would cost painted and they said, "$501.51" Of course I would be the one installing it so I can save myself from the labor. If they were to install it would be $609.37. I also asked them what the OEM Bumper Unpainted would cost and they said $230.00.

Do any of you Fitters know the best route to take and if you have a place where I can get the 2008 OEM bumper in Storm Silver cheaper?

Thanks

did it make an indent into your bumper? If not, you could just get away with a repaint. I'd consult a body shop first. It's also difficult to match the colour of your car when getting a new bumper, so I would spend the extra money to get it done right, in case the colour is a little off, you can tell them to do it again and do it right.

Sorry to hear about your new Fit being run into! Hopefully you can figure out an inexpensive way to repair. As suggested I would check out some local body shops first. The dealer will FOR SURE take you for ride . You can expect to pay the most throught the dealer.....so I would try to avoid him at all costs. Good Luck

yea i definately know a extremely good body shop that i have taken my past cars too. But with the greatness comes the prices. lol. My bumper is still salvagable. It has a very minor indent. I will swing by this Sat to talk to both the body shop and the stealership.

have it repaired..it will be cheaper than buying it again for just a small imperfection on to it. Dont worry dude, i was hit randomly in january past year, two months having my car and it was destroyed the whole back. Now, this january some bitch lady hit me, again in the back. im gonna replace the repaired back bumper with a new one. it has took two hits already and thats were i think its time for a new one.

Not your problem. Let your cousins mom take care of the cost the way she took care of damaging your car. Hello?? Fair is fair.

Just like if you hit her car - you should be held accountable for repairs.
