DIY Side view mirror?

Bought my Fit S in May of 2007, waited several months for a manual transmission. This morning, I backed out of my covered parking spot and was not paying any attention. I tore my driver's side mirror off. it came off clean, save for a small black part that seems to just be the fastening and the place through which the wires go for the power mirror.

I have one question - I'm a girl and on a scale of one to 10, with 10 being highest and 1 being completely oblivious, my car knowledge is about a 5. I can change my own oil and can get under the hood pretty well.

Is this something I can fix on my own? I.E. reattach the mirror by ordering a new one of the small part that broke? Obviously I'd have to reconnect the wires. Is this possible, or am I kidding myself?

Thanks.

I will bet that you can do it yourself. Be patient and careful, and you can do it. But if you try your best and fail, then you haven't lost anything at all. Just make an appointment at your dealer's body shop, or any highly rated body shop in your area. Ask your insurance company what body shop they would send you to if this had been a collision on the road. They will be happy to find out that you are not placing a claim.
