Removing 05 Fit stereo unit?

Hey all,

My gf has a 05 Jap import Fit which as a result has the stereo tuned to only range between 70 and 90 Mhz FM. I posted about this in another part of the forum but I've since discovered you can buy a "band expander" on places like Ebay that will retune the standard FM range (ie: 88-108 Mhz) to ones that this stereo can read.

Apparently these expanders connect to the aerial input at the back of the stereo itself, so my question is, how easy is it to remove the standard stereo in these cars? (pics/step-by-step would be great!)

Cheers!

I have this same problem also, managed to remove the panel below the air vent adjustments but can't see how to continue further.

You'd have to go through the glovebox to remove the center console and the radio/headunit attached to it. Not the easiest job to do but possible. You'll need a socket wrench.

Try looking for the GD Fit electronic service manual, it should be posted somewhere around here.

kinda late but you can go to metraonline.com and look for the fit and you can look at the install guide for their dash kit
