So usually when its cold outside and the car isnt warmed up yet ill be driving at slow speeds under 20 MPH the car will shut itself off. the lights that would come on if i stalled the car come on but i know its not stalling cuz im already driving. i pull off to the side start it back up and usually it doesnt happen again its happens like once a week not to often but im wondering what it may be any thaughts?

I'm not that great with cars, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but this happened once or twice to me with my old car, but always under the same condition: I had just filled up with gas at what I would call a 'no name' station, you know one of those 'other' brand stations when you just pull over because if you don't you're going to run out of gas in a not-so-nice neighborhood.

After that, I've had the sputter-sputter-die while idling once or twice, and even while in the middle of coasting along at about 25mph. The car would always turn over again without complaint afterward and it would work itself out of its system after a while.

But I'm thinking this might be due to sediment in the tank or some weird additive in the gas getting into the fuel line? Did this happen to you right after a fill-up?

This same thing happens to me as well. Mine is a 2008 sport with a manual transmission. Took it to Honda but they weren't able to replicate the problem. Took it to another mechanic and they did, but weren't able to pin-point the issue. They checked out everything in the electrical system, including cleaning some of the wiring, and swapping out the spark-plugs, but it still happens. The best advice they had for me was to see if the dealer will re-flash the ECU in case there is some corrupted programming there. I haven't done this yet -- hope someone else who's run into this issue has found a solution.

Edit:

Was searching through old threads looking for more occurrences of this issue, and came across these:

Some good things to try, including a valve clearance adjustment.

EDIT:

Having the dealer complete a valve adjustment fixed the problem. I even seem to have recovered some horse-power. The car has been running like a champ for the last two weeks.
