A couple of problems

Hello fellow FitFreaks, I've noticed a couple of issues recently and don't know whether I should be worried about them or not.
  1. If I have the gas pedal depressed, and I turn on my headlights, the gas pedal loses power, and I have to let go and step on the gas again for the car to resume acceleration.
  2. When I back out from a parking spot (especially in the mornings), I hear a loud click when I put my car from Reverse to Drive and is often accompanied by a sudden forward jerk.
Is there anything wrong with my car? Should I take it to the dealer to get it looked at?

When you are backing up, do you come to a full stop before the R-D shift?

i dont think my 09 has a loud click going from R-D, but as malrux mentioned, make sure your car is completely stopped before changing gears between R and D. i dont warm any of my cars even if the ambient temp is 0F. i just drive off within 10seconds but go very easy on it for 3-4miles.

im not sure if either of my Fits lose throttle position when i turn on the headlights while accelerating.

It takes about a second after coming to a stop and switching to drive for everything to settle-in, avoiding the clunk.

Everyone with an auto experiences this. No one has had a failure (that I'm aware of). I wouldn't worry about it. Except I do wait the extra half second before driving off just to be kind to it.

Regarding the gas pedal/headlight oddity, that does not sound normal at all, and sounds to me like evidence of an electrical problem somewhere. I'd probably start off by checking the ground for the gas pedal position sender thingy, or at least try measuring the voltage it's receiving whilst turning on the lights. It may require an oscilloscope or similar tool to properly check; a normal voltmeter might not detect a momentary drop in voltage. If you don't feel up to checking it yourself, by all means enquire at your dealer.
