oil change adding slick50?
Hey all, my ride is at 55k miles, not responding as well as new, I guess I could use some new spark plugs for tuneup. Also I was thinking adding Slick50 into it. Here is a dumb question, anyone used slick50 with syn. oil since I am using syn. oil? The "old" slick50 instruction was saying replace 1 bottle of slick50 for 1 quart of oil. But that was for conventional oil! New slick50 didn't say anything about that, it just says add the slick50 and add oil to the right level. And I don't know how the chemical in slick50 would interact with syn. oil. Any ideas?!
honestly i would never put this kind of stuff in my engine, it has been discussed a lot already... you just have to search a little

What Slick 50 does is inhibits sound because of its density, then you think (placebo) that the engine is running more smoothly. IF the pellets are not machined small enough they have an affinity to "stack or pool" at oil journal entry points and block off up to 50% of the lower area of the journal, disrupting oil flow rate and causing localized heating. This can starve a critical area of lubrication and because of localized heating create a temprorary increase in performance ( thinner oil sheared or thinned by heat) until the oil starved component is destroyed.
Finally the solids have an affinity at resting in the oil pan/sump and collecting and holding sludge precursers that eventually collect into full blown black sludge creating more problems.

Teflon does nothing in an engine, Dupont said so over 25 years ago ,they invented it. Plugs are good for 100K, so save your money. When the time comes heres a link that has OE plugs Denso Iridium Long SKJ20DRM13 Spark Plug
save your money on the additive and if you feel the need to use it, apply it to a more expensive premium motor oil instead.
Even among Synthetics, there are the "full synthetics" which perform just fine, but are GrpIII, then there are the true "full synthetics" that are made from the higher groups.
At least you know that the manufacturer would have formulated their additive package comprehensively to work properly rather then messing with something that is already balanced.
Will it really make a difference for the Fit which is specced to outlive you on regular conv. oil?
Would your car perform better just changing your oil twice as frequently for the same cost?
Would you see more of a difference by spending the money on other things like a nice car wash and detail?
