Is there a reason to keep the stock horn wired-up?

I have a Fit Sport, so after installation of the Supertones I'd still like the alarm to work, and I'd like the "door lock beep" to work.
No need to keep the stock horn actually connected, just showed that to clarify that you must tie into that stock horn wire. its up to you if you want to leave it or not.

EDIT: forgot to mention the alarm and beeps for locking are managed by another horn located behind the bumper and underneath the drivers headlight so you don't have to worry about that.

Perfect, this is exactly what I needed to know.

Thanks,

S.

Stupid question here but......are we sure the additional relay is absolutely needed? Especially if you take out the OEM horn?

Couldn't you get by without it on the stock fuse? What is it 15A?

Relay comes with the horns I don't see why you wouldn't want to use it or be against it. The fuse is a 20A as stated earlier in the thread

I think he was referring to the original stock horn fuse. Which if I remember correctly is a 15A. Have read before on Subbie forums that lots of guys dont use another relay and get away fine. The only I would worry about is I have heard that some supertones have been known to draw close to 12A a piece and on your stock horn wiring you'll fry your wires. Personally I'd use the seperate relay with the new wiring supplying seperate 12V power with the 20A fuse, that way your not cooking any vehicle wiring.

The instructions that came with my Hella's called for a 16A fuse rather than a 20A. I finished my install today ... they certainly are loud!

I don't actually own my Fit anymore but from what I remember you can see them a little with the stock grill and they are a bit more pronounced with an all mesh grill like the jdp grill. Hope this helps!

Thanks

Resurrecting an old thread....

Thanks for the images. I just got a new (to me) GE8 FitSport. It's a 2012 that I scored with only 25000 miles. I've made a few enhancements in the past month since I got it.

I put in a new Kenwood Head Unit - cuz its 2017 and I wanted bluetooth and Spotify support. I ran the USB cable down to the panel next to the 12V outlet.

Also, thanks to you guys, I put in two Hella Sharptone horns. They look pretty "sharp" and sound great. I hung them off the same location as the stock horn.

Question: Anyone ever replace the stock alarm horn with a beeper (a la Toyota)? I think that would sound infinitely better.
