Wax on cowl

Hey detail wizards, I have a question. My dad helped me wax my car about a month ago and now I have the white wax residue on my front cowl and I can't get it off. I've washed the car twice since then to no avail. Any ideas? I was thinking using dawn, but should I use a wax remover instead? Thanks for any help!

A friend of mine found on the Mini Cooper forum that peanut butter or peanut oil takes the wax off plastic.

Hmm... Any idea which one it is? Hate to go throwing peanut butter on my car for no reason. But if it works, I'll try anything.

I had some peanut oil and it worked well on a rag. My friend just uses a little bit of peanut butter itself. Maybe don't use the extra crunchy variety.

Start throwing peanut butter on it and https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...r-my-hood.html

Dawn and a toothbrush or rubbing alcohol on a dry cloth should work. Avoid the magic eraser - works but will kill your paint if you slip.

simplegreen works but do not let it sit for more than 30 seconds it may leave a residue, use water on it first, simplegreen, soft cloth and then wash it out with soap and water. cant think of anything else besides peanut butter ^

Go light using a toothbrush and some Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol. Start in a very small spot to ensure it will come off. What I normally do on customers cars is use my fingernail before anything else, your nail won't scratch anything. I'm very cautious by nature, even on plastics. I noticed someone mention a magic eraser, DO NOT go near a car with one of these. Dawn is a good soap but too good, it's what most use to strip wax off, which I think you want to avoid.

just thought i'd throw a quick update on here. this week i removed the vinyl from my roof and was using goo gone to remove the rest of the adhesive and for some reason thought, hey, maybe this will take the wax off. it did alright. i wouldn't say perfect, but a hell of a lot better than it was. worth a shot if you need to get some wax off plastic

Try one of those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.

In the future, use a polish like Zaino instead of regular wax.

I've been much happier since I switched years ago. Polish doesn't leave that white residue.
