How often should I wash and wax

I just bought a Honda Fit 2016 LX. The car will not be in a garage and I live in Chicago. How often should I wash and wax the car. When I do wax (normally I go to Turtle Wax) what type of wax should I have them use...

I like Turtle Wax "Ice" wax. In fact that's the only Turtle Wax product I've EVER liked. It works great, and won't leave any white residue on the black plastic areas (in fact, you can "wax" the black plastic with it if you want).

I don't live in Chicago, and my car is garaged at night, so I can't really advise you on "how often". Too many unknowns and variables.

Wash it when it dirtier than you would like

I rinse mine off a few times between washes. I wash it twice a month or so.

I don't wax, I seal instead. But regardless, when water stops beading on the surfaces, it would be time to rewax or reseal.

I have four months on my first application of BLACKFIRE Crystal Seal Paint Sealant. The car is not garaged or covered and still sheds water well.

seems there are a bunch of "TurtleWax Ice" products, at least a couple of which call them selves "wax". Which one in particular has been good for you?
thanks

Don't forget to invest on a good outdoor cover so that you don't need to wash your car more often.

I use both the liquid wax in the bottle for the car, and I like the spray wax (in a spray bottle) for the Harley, or a quick touch-up on the car. If more cleaning is required, I use a clay bar.

Outdoor covers destroy paint in cold winter climates.. Places where the wind blows all the time make it worse.

Same here it needs to be waxed ect when the water doesn't bead up anymore. Too much wax ect isn't good either, You do not want a wax build up. As for washing well when it gets dirty enough for you then wash it or when you have the time. I also agree with dwtaylorpdx covers will screw up the paint too on windy days and on damp days will hold the moisture in longer which is never good for metal. Just saying

Depends on the type of weather you get in Chicago but me personally I would clay bar and wax twice a year (Every 6 months).
