DIY- Replacing the Windshield Washer Motor on a Fit
Hey Fit Freaks!
One of my old college buddies have a '07 Fit like me (only I take better care of mine
) and the windshield washer motor has been out on his ride for quite a while now. I finally was able to convince him that I have no social life (
) so I'd be more than happy to assist him with the replacement job. For those who are interested, feel free to view!
1) Remove the right inner fender. (I know, I know
)
2) Disconnect the 2-pin connectors and tubes from the washer motors.
3) Remove the washer motors from the washer reservoir.
4) Remove the two bolts and clip, then remove the washer reservoir.
5) Install the reservoir in the reverse order of removal.
6) Check the washer motor operation.

One more thought: these are tough little motors. Before you spend $50 on a factory replacement or $20 on a universal replacement, make sure your pump is toast. My pump was just seized. I couldn’t reach the shaft with pliers so I used a tiny flat bladed jewelers screwdriver to push on a flat on the shaft to loosen it up. I probably had some debris in the reservoir or maybe the water in the reservoir had evaporated and left some hard water deposits that jammed the shaft. I removed the pump from the reservoir to bring it inside and work on it. I used a 9V battery across the terminals to test it.
